Description

Dioecious shrubs up to 20 cm tall, prostrate to ascending, with green to yellowish branches. Leaves 1.2-2.5 mm, triangular, subacute to obtuse, concave. Pollen cones 7-9 mm, oblong-ovoid. Seed cones c. 8 mm, ovoid-globose; when mature, forming a globose, red to purplish fleshy cone c. 8 mm diameter; seeds 4-6 mm long (Moore 1983).

Distribution and Ecology

Tierra del Fuego; N in Argentina to 42° S and in Chile to 51° S (Moore 1983).
