Crown on older specimens broad and umbrella-shaped. Branches short, horizontally spread. Needles 5-8 (12) mm long, thick, blue-green. Cones cylindrical, with a large protuberance in the concave apex, about 7 cm long and 4 cm wide" (Vidakovic 1991).
