Description

"Stem mostly subterranean, 20-40 cm diam. Leaves to 50 in the crown, 60-120 cm long, rachis not twisted; pinnae 70-120, most dichotomously once-divided, 15-20 cm long, 5-10 mm wide, with 6-13 raised veins beneath, the segments 2.5-5 mm wide with 3-7 raised veins, several of the lowest pinnae progressively reduced and spine-like; petiole 10-20 cm long. Male and female cones similar to the smaller cones of M. communis" (Harden 1990).

Distribution and Ecology

Australia: NSW. "In dry sclerophyll forest on sandy or stony soils, mainly from Bugaldie district to Premer" (Harden 1990).
